nitiFilter® on a Peugeot 207

We conducted the installation of a nitiFilter®, the permanent and self-cleaning oil filter, at an oil change interval of 28 318 km. We did not change the oil. The nominal values used for a 5W30 oil are 63 cSt viscosity at 40°C and 10,6 cSt viscosity at 100°C.

After proceeding to an oil analysis, here are the results :

98.7

Viscosity at 40°C – cSt

13.67

Viscosity at 100°C – cSt

30

Contaminant  : Silicium  – ppm

118

Wear and tear : Iron – ppm

A month later

As predicted, the oil seems to be very degraded. We run another oil test a month later at 31 342 km. We can notice that the results get better, except for one of the wear metals :

84.4

Viscosity at 40°C

12.76

Viscosity at 100°C

30

Contaminant  : Silicium

138

Wear and tear : Iron

As only one of the wear metals is degraded, we decided to keep the oil.

8 months later

We run another engine oil testing a month later at 39 003 km, that makes around 11 000 km with the nitiFilter®.

66.9

Viscosity at 40°C

11.23

Viscosity at 100°C

11

Contaminant  : Silicium

47

Wear and tear : Iron

Oil is still OK !

2 years later

Finally, we run another engine oil test 2 years later at 52 693 km, that makes  around 25 000 km with the nitiFilter® and a more than 4 years old oil.

69.1

Viscosity at 40°C

10.96

Viscosity at 100°C

10

Contaminant  : Silicium

74

Wear and tear : Iron

Oil is still OK and close to the nominal value… So are you convinced that oil change is not always necessary with the right product ?
